villa Minimale by Clemens Kirsch stands on the Austrian hillside

Villa Minimale by Clemens Kirsch’s architectural studio stands as an allotment house nestled in the hills of Vienna. This wooden retreat serves as a space for relaxation, socialization, and gardening, providing an optimized floor area designed with maximum efficiency to accommodate a family of four. Constrained by building regulations dictating a maximum floor area of 35 sqm and a height limit of 5 m, Villa Minimale draws from the iconic Villa Rotonda by Architect A. Palladio in Vicenza, Italy, merging seamlessly with the spirit of ‘Kings Road House’ by Architect R. Schindler in Los Angeles, US.

The ground floor of the villa features a central dining area, kitchen, bathroom, WC, and a cozy alcove. Ascending to the upper floor unveils three bunks that exude an essence of ‘camping’, offering occupants a unique perspective of the starry sky.

four wooden boxes with copper shed roofs shape up the villa

The architectural design comprises four identical wooden boxes with shed roofs, arranged in a windmill-shaped configuration, featuring a central oculus, a circular air space at its core. Crafted with prefabricated timber construction, adorned with light-glazed timber battens on the exterior and a copper roof, the interior boasts veneered marine pine blockboards. The design team at Clemens Kirsch Architecture establishes a seamless relationship between the interior and exterior. The landscape effortlessly flows through the building, providing captivating views in all four directions, creating a harmonious union of nature and architecture.
