‘parhuis house’ designed by aaksen responsible aarchitecture, takes form as two separated masses joined by a floating platform. located in a narrow, elongated lot in indonesia, the dwelling is segregated into a private and public area as the house programming responds to the current situation where interaction is limited due to health and safety. furthermore, the west façade is clad in vertical timber slats to reduce solar heat and radiation, allowing natural light and ventilation to flow through the interior.vertical timber slats carve up this residence in indonesia by aaksen responsible aarchitectureall images courtesy of azzahra dartaman

‘parhuis house’ by aaksen responsible architecture corresponds to the inhabitants’ needs providing them with a clear function of the public area at the front and the private area at the back. having the long side in the east-west direction considered by the architects as a challenge and not as a constraint, while secondary wooden skins are placed in the west façade to minimize solar heat and radiation. meanwhile, the wooden fins add to the house a playful touch, blending indoor-outdoor space to increase health and mental well-being.vertical timber slats carve up this residence in indonesia by aaksen responsible aarchitecture

a floating platform serves as the link element of the two volumes, while the inner courtyard forms an open space with vegetation allowing natural light, and ventilation to puncture the interior. filled with abundant light and air circulation, ‘parhuis’ serves as a healthy environment that features energy-saving advantages through the passive house approach. moreover, a mezzanine level, clad in wooden elements is attached to the master bedroom, taking form as a working space to save time for the work-from-home situation.vertical timber slats carve up this residence in indonesia by aaksen responsible aarchitecture
