the studio which was founded in 2001 by yoon gyoo jang and shin chang hoon, is an experimental group which focusses on realizing conceptual architecture with variable possibilities.

recently they received an honorable mention for their project ‘ocean imagination’ in the competition to design the thematic pavilion for expo 2012 yeosu, korea.
based around ‘the living ocean and coast: diversity of resources and sustainable activities’ theme, unsangdong’s concept ‘ocean imagination’ emphasized nature and liveability. the floating wheel is designed with a sustainable skin and consists of ‘ocean eco compounds’ which incorporate the main theme of the expo 2012 yeosu, korea that include; marine technology, architecture engineering, civil engineering, information technology and so on.
