in a densely populated suburb of tokyo, UNEMORI ARCHITECTS has constructed a 17 meter-tall structure that serves as both a residential property and a leather goods store. positioned on a particularly small plot of land, ‘yamate street house’ is envisioned as a flexible building where functions are only loosely connected to the architecture of the dwelling. the façade features a rigid repeated pattern of fenestration that remains similar in size regardless of the respective internal program. within the design, an angular white staircase winds its way upwards, connecting each storey and leading to an open roof terrace positioned at the home’s uppermost level.
