PPAA completes UAVI pavilion in Litibu, mexico

Mexico-based studio Pérez Palacios Arquitectos Asociados (PPAA) reveals its latest architectural work, the ephemeral UAVI Pavilion, gracefully rising above the sandy landscape of Litibu in Punta Mita, Nayarit. Standing before the beach, UAVI invites visitors to ‘imagine what it would be like to live in a coastal environment’, shares PPAA. Design-wise, the architects conceived the pavilion as a lightweight wooden volume set on stilts and framing scenic vistas of the Pacific Ocean in Mexico. Ultimately, the studio’s careful intervention, captured by architectural photographer Rafael Gamo, appears to be perfectly tailored to the site.

By using a series of wooden slats in its modulation, the UAVI Pavilion by PPAA (see more here) creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow that envelops those who explore it. At the center of the structure, an intimate and daylit courtyard invites visitors to rest, gather, and absorb Mexico’s expansive coastal charm in which UAVI effortlessly settles. ‘This central courtyard, in essence, blurs the boundaries between nature and the built structure. Beach elements like the sea breeze and the sand harmoniously infiltrate this courtyard, creating a unique and immersive experience,’ concludes the architectural team.
