architecture firm beleve introduces the ‘VH house‘ to accommodate a large family of five, in chicureo, chile. with the brief requiring a fast and efficient construction, the architects have opted for a metallic structure, that organizes all public areas on an open first floor, while keeping private zones isolated on the second level.

beleve‘s design generates two overlapping volumes, that house public and private areas on different levels. in the intersection of these volumes, which serves as the core of the house, a sculptural staircase made from folded steel, helps occupants access the different stories. the project employs strong concrete walls, that reduce the number of supporting pillars, allowing for a fluid, unobstructed circulation, and enhancing the level of integration between different areas.

the orientation of the volumes was determined in accordance with the golf course adjacent to the site. the residence opens towards the green landscape, with the rooms enjoying pleasant views of the surroundings. in addition, an external corridor is installed to the dwelling, generating different terraces, all facing north.

in terms of materiality, the beleve team has adopted an honest approach, exposing the majority of the spatial elements and textures, such as raw concrete floors, the stainless-steel staircase, and the black steel main structure. the ceiling is clad in heat-treated woods and the furniture of the kitchen is designed in neutral colors to further accentuate the living and dining room area. the entire house is lined with EIFS panels for greater thermal efficiency. also, air conditioning systems are installed hidden in the floor, walls, and furniture, to achieve cleaner spaces.
