TAA design develops house in vietnam around central, tree-planted courtyard

TAA design has completed a house for a three-generation family in vietnam, developed around a central, tree-planted courtyard. located in the suburbs of ho chi minh city, the project is designed to bring its residents closer together, and to nature, through a series of architectural solutions. the courtyard provides a common space between the different volumes of the house, where various family activities can take place. all private spaces surrounding this courtyard connect directly to it, both visually and physically. all images by TAA design

TAA design has created the courtyard as a central, peaceful garden filled with sunlight and greenery, offering a living space that is harmonious with nature. the house develops around it as a one-story construction, blending into the surrounding low-level context. at the same time, a series of two-story blocks cut through the main volume, creating an intricate contrast between the rough materials of the steep roof and the sharp geometry of the blocks.

all private rooms are placed within the box-shaped blocks, which are separated from each other to create gaps for wind circulation within the building. the blocks benefit from small, private gardens, while residents can also access parts of the roof. the ground level of the house encloses common living areas, such as the kitchen, living and dining rooms, as well as a sheltered terrace surrounding the landscape pond filled with koi fish in the courtyard.
