SKY BRIDGE 721, A RECORD-BREAKING SUSPENSION BRIDGE

After two years of construction, the world’s longest skywalk has opened in the Czech Republic. Dubbed Sky Bridge 721, the record-breaking suspension bridge is located between the crests of the Kralicky Snezník mountain, offering breathtaking views to hikers.

Spanning 721 meters between two mountain ridges at the height of 95 meters, the bridge’s formal inauguration took place on May 13, 2022. With its dimensions, the bridge has broken the record of the currently longest 516 meters long bridge in the Arouca area, Portugal, which opened in spring 2021.

SPANNING 721 METERS BETWEEN TWO MOUNTAIN RIDGES AT THE HEIGHT OF 95 METERS

The Sky Bridge 721 leads from the Slaměnka Chalet near the existing Skywalk over the valley, all the way to the side of Chlum Hill. Visitors enter it at an elevation of 1,125 meters and exit it ten meters higher. To build it, 1,030 cubic meters of concrete were used, resulting in a total weight of 405 tonnes, with the total weight of the ropes reaching 158 tonnes, and auxiliary structures 20 tonnes.

Throughout its 721 meters, visitors will reach its highest point at 95 meters above ground level — 1,116 above sea level. Six main supporting ropes and 60 wind ropes of various diameters suspend it while spanning 1.2 meters in width for the walkway.

While crossing the bridge, visitors will have a unique opportunity to learn about the local history through an educational trail called The Bridge of Time. Here, a total of eight educational panels and a connected interactive game with tasks are thematically and chronologically ordered so that, after an undemanding walk along marked routes taking about one hour, every visitor will return to the present.
