sigurd larsen builds nine wooden cabins for treetop hotel løvtag in a danish fjord

located in a small, quaint forest in the mariager fjord, denmark’s longest fjord, the treetop hotel løvtag by sigurd larsen comprises nine cabins, each of which is able to host up to four sleeping guests. with a tree growing right through the middle of the wooden cabins, the hotel brings visitors in direct contact with the surrounding nature, while floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows offer scenic views of the forest and let the sunshine in during the afternoon.all images by soeren larsen

each room of the løvtag hotel is a cabin high up in the trees, designed by sigurd larsen with an aesthetic of nordic minimalism. located on a small hilltop overlooking a meadow, the structures are built six to eight meters up each tree, while access to the roof terrace through a staircase gives guests the impression of continuing to climb up the tree. large windows to the south and west let in lots of natural light and offer panoramic views of the surroundings, while an outdoor shower is mounted on the façade of each cabin to create the experience of bathing within the forest. inside, the cabins, which are equipped with water, electricity and indoor plumbing, are modern and comfortable and include one large room with a sleeping area, a living room and kitchen, as well as a separate toilet. a total of nine cabins have been planned at the als odde site, the first one is open now.
