share architects complete a bathing oasis on the danube

austrian practice share architects has recently completed a small bathing hut/micro villa on the bank of the danube river within the center of vienna – an ideal location that serves its purpose as a convenient holiday home. the reinforced concrete structure breaks from the primary mass of the home and creates two privacy walls along either side that encircle a courtyard space of rich timber planks that lead to the water’s edge. upon entering from street level, one finds themselves on the top floor of the construct with an open-air staircase leading down to the open living room with large sliding glass doors. within the double-height space a gallery is suspended from the ceiling serving as an elevated sleeping space with views over the river. underneath, a bathroom and kitchen add to the amenities of the house resulting in a very compact but efficient paradise from the dense city.
