schemata architects encourages a sense of discovery within today’s special store

continuing with the shop’s spatial theme of lightweight and DIY, jo nagasaka / schemata architects have recently completed the third shop of ‘today’s special‘ located at BAL in kyoto, japan. erected as a shop-in-shop, antique furniture, stacked wooden pallets and plastic container boxes have been uses to display the array of products on sale, while underlining the slight industrial essence of the space. the play of different heights, depths and organization of the display elements have created a casual and interesting interior; encouraging customers to circulate freely and fostering a sense of discovery, ‘as if they are playing a treasure hunt’

the store has just been opened

products for sale have been casually displayed around to promote a sense of discovery

wooden pallets and metal frames have been used as the shelving system

the store sells a diverse mixture of items and brands

created like a store within store

wooden pallets stacked up to form the cash register

the store has been organized to encourage customers to roam freely

converted steel racks using wood, furniture composed of wood angles, antique furniture seen throughout

the store is set within a shopping mall
