world’s largest sauna opens on an arctic beach at SALT festival in norway

the arts festival SALT is a cultural platform promoting unique installations, music, and a collection of architectural structures- one being the world’s largest sauna. the event is distinctively located on the beach of the small island of sandhornøya in an isolated part of northern norway.

set within a timber A-frame, with a bar included, the ‘agora’ sauna provide visitors with warmth, a place for social exchange and complemented with an ambient background soundtrack. referencing traditional norwegian fish racks, the rising, stepped amphitheater seating can accommodate over 100 people at once and simultaneously, overlooks the white sand beach while framing the mountains and clear waters.
