Módica Ledezma builds rustic horse stable in mexico
Equestrian San Ramón, designed by the Módica Ledezma office, emerges as a rustic horse stable nestled in Valle de Bravo’s forest in the State of Mexico. The design aimed for simplicity, utilizing natural materials to blend with the surrounding environment while accommodating various functions within the equestrian program. The design team opted for ocher tones to complement the lush vegetation, with materials such as wood, clay tiles, red bricks, steel beams, and corten cancelling carefully selected for their aesthetic and functional qualities. The stables feature a single-pitched roof design, facilitating spacious interiors and ample height to encourage proper air circulation. A longitudinal window, oriented northward for favorable lighting, enhances this ventilation. Despite their size, the stable buildings integrate into the sloped terrain, thanks to materials like steel and glass that communicate a sense of lightness and adaptability.

Equestrian San Ramón’s Functional Layout & Harmonious Design
Upon entry through an arch, visitors are greeted by a service module housing amenities like a laundry, warehouse, workshop, and veterinary facilities. Adjacent to this, a small parking area leads to the stables, which also accommodate bedrooms, a meeting room, and a dining area. The main nave houses Stables 01, extending to Stables 02 and featuring a central loft area accessible from both. The second stable nave opens onto a corral, linking and mirroring the layout of the main stable area. Additionally, the complex includes four corrals and a horse walker for exercise. Comfort, openness, shelter, and fluidity were key considerations in designing within a rural setting framed by oak trees. The buildings prioritize utilitarian functions, resulting in a harmonious composition of diagonals, staggered elements, vertical lines, and stylized geometries. Módica Ledezma’s cohesive design aims to enhance the experience for both humans and animals within the environment.
