rs+ robert skitek combines three blocks into his own family's house in poland

rs+ robert skitek‘s house with the hole is a private residence designed by the architect, for himslef and his own family, in the town of mikolow in southern poland. situated on a sloped suburban plot with views towards the surrounding nature, the house follows the slope of the terrain and incorporates two blocks on the ground level. the first block encloses daytime living areas, which are situated perpendicularly to the road and lowered in accordance with the existing terrain. the second block, which is located at the other end of the plot, houses a garage, while both blocks are connected via the third, upper level block, which runs parallel to the road and incorporates the family’s bedrooms.all images by tomasz zakrzewski

rs+ robert skitek has enclosed all common living areas on the ground level of the house, while bedrooms and private spaces are located on the upper block. after one enters the plot, they immediately find themselves on the outdoor terrace, which is directly connected with the living room. at the same time, a large glazing part in the living area allows for the terrace to be extended significantly when opened.

house with the hole comprises a construction that is largely glazed on the west and south sides, while its north and south sides are characterized by blind surfaces. a system of external blinds offers protection against overheating, together with an appropriate selection of glass and mechanical ventilation.
