settling amid the wild karelian landscape, in russia, architecture firm rhizome introduces the ‘tochka na karte’ country hotel complex. the site features a pine forest, and a vast sandy beach with a large lake, which have deeply influenced the project’s architecture. isolated from any inhabited areas, the hotel consists of 15 small prefabricated cabins, offering an opportunity for reclusive recreation in the natural environment.

the hotel complex by rhizome is built using prefabricated technology, which is the most suitable and sustainable choice for construction in remote locations. every unit consists of 2 modules making up an L-shaped structure, including a large terrace and a compact space capable of accommodating up to 4 guests. apart from basic and necessary elements, the houses are also equipped with a personal sauna – an essential attribute of truly nordic vacation.

the intention to create an expressive and diverse architectural environment is realized through 4 exterior design types. based on the idea of sequence, the houses stand out due to their different textured façades, that vary from smooth to ribbed surfaces, emphasizing the aesthetic of gaps and edges. impregnated pinewood was chosen as the finishing material for the units, with its color serving as another distinctive characteristic of the design. every cabin type is also complimented with a specific variation of canopies – either the monolith ones that follow the general logic of the volume, or the ones that ‘float’ in the air highlighted by a window.
