powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard

powerhouse company has completed ‘villa JM’, a linear residence made of natural stone and wood, on an extensive wooded site in the south of the netherlands. from the road, the house appears as a closed stone rectangle with only a single, large opening that revels a central courtyard garden. curved surfaces and sinuous glass walls complete the villa, offering its residents the best of the natural views while safeguarding their privacy.powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyardall images by sebastian van damme

powerhouse company has built ‘villa JM’ as a single story residence based on a U-shaped floorplan. a single opening pierces the monumental façade facing the street, which is otherwise clad in portuguese azul limestone to ensure enough privacy. the opening reveals a glimpse of the home’s interior in the shape of a central courtyard garden, which is enclosed by glass walls that translate the surrounding landscape into a domestic context.powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard

the single-story villa pairs sober straight lines and heavy stone volumes with seductive curves and sinuous glass walls. the entire building, including all terraces, has been raised 40 cm above ground level, which adds to its monumentality and presence in the landscape while providing the villa with several integrated terraces. on the exterior, portuguese azul limestone is paired with curved walls clad in rich ash wood, echoing the surrounding forest.powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard

inside, the home’s main living space is almost completely transparent, connecting residents with the serenity of the surrounding forest. only a small portion of the space is closed off, detailed in the façade in richly veined marble. simple white plaster surfaces and carefully crafted built-in furniture enhance the uncluttered aesthetic of the villa’s interiors.powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard powerhouse company completes linear stone villa in the netherlands with central courtyard
