situated adjacent to the town hall, paul andreu architecte‘s bordeaux ‘municipal building’ gathers city services and public welcoming areas into one volume with two distinct faces. the lower levels are for the public atrium and related welcoming areas.  their massing and materiality reflect the language of the historic city. the proportion and texture of the adjacent mansard rooves is captured by the intermediate level between two distinct vocabularies. above, floats a gleaming white mass. there, municipal offices hover over the city and project into the skyline. thus, the municipal building is connected physically and visually to the rest of the city.
