gris completes an arched residence in Guatemala Surf town

Gris unveils Casa Onda, a residence located in El Paredón Buena Vista, Sipacate, Guatemala, that aims to accommodate rental guests while preserving its owner’s privacy. Nestled in the Pacific Coast surf town, the house is designed around four existing palm trees on the lot, turning them into part of the structure. From the outside, Casa Onda stands out with its fluid lines and arched facade, inspired by the organic shape of the trees. These elements help create a transition between the interior and exterior, linking the building with the natural landscape. The narrow lot and the trees add to the appearance of the project and contribute to the house’s natural lighting and ventilation.

Casa Onda hosts its owner and guests, ensuring privacy

Gris places Casa Onda’s master bedroom on the second floor, complete with a private terrace and bathroom. An exterior staircase provides direct access to the rooftop terrace, ensuring convenience and seclusion. The Guatemala-based studio ensures the owner’s privacy by incorporating a separate staircase through which guests can enjoy the rooftop terrace, offering a secluded retreat next to the master bedroom. This separation balances confidentiality and hospitality, catering to personal use and rental purposes.
