TIEN CAM HOUSE stands on a rural hill area of VIET NAM

KAN Studio in collaboration with BOW.Atelier takes over the construction of a multileveled residence, ‘Tien Cam House’, in Vietnam. Situated on the slopes of a rural hill area, the structure is surrounded by orchards, streams, and fields overlooking the mountains.

The project covers the plot of a preexisting demolished construction unfolding a complex of building blocks expanding on various levels and interconnected through a shared corridor. The orientation and position of the frame take advantage of the terrain and topography of the site offering optimal air and sunlight distribution and unobstructed views of the landscape.

building blocks connect through a roofed corridor

All functional spaces are arranged sensibly to meet the needs of the users. The design team at KAN Studio and BOW.Atelier forms ‘Tien Cam house’ as a complex of building blocks with multileveled overlapping shingle roofs, connected by a shared corridor. Each compartment has access to the living zones while retaining its privacy.

The two lower blocks organize spaces for three bedrooms, while the upper block assembles the common areas of the living room, kitchen, and dining zone. Two side blocks serve as a garage and bathroom. The main areas stand in direct contact with the outdoor spaces accessing them through doorways and large windows. The well-distributed openings integrate the natural element into the structure allowing natural light into the interior and providing views of the scenery of the paddy field and lush forest. The interior arrangement and open design of the space generate a sense of restful and warm ambiance.
