Kalbod Studio reimagines the conventional cube

Object Beyond House by Kalbod Design Studio pushes the boundaries of architectural experimentation by reimagining the conventional cube. This project explores the inherent capabilities of a building, aiming for self-sufficiency and offering a distinctive spatial encounter. Without predetermined design constraints, the structure evolves organically, blurring distinctions between private dwelling and public exhibition. Strategic placement of light and openings fosters a dynamic interplay, encouraging exploration and challenging conventional spatial perceptions. Through a focus on internal experience, Object Beyond House disrupts norms, urging occupants to interact with architecture in innovative ways and envisioning a future of design exploration. This architectural experiment delves into the untapped potentials of contemporary architectural forms. By maximizing its inherent features, the project seeks to achieve self-sustainability. Emerging organically, devoid of external influences, its design concept manifests as a heterogeneous composition, offering a unique spatial narrative that intertwines personal living spaces with public exhibition areas.

Object Beyond House Explores Spatial Dynamics

Echoing Valerio Olgiati’s philosophy, the project by Kalbod Studio aims not for theatrical spectacle but rather for a cognitive exchange between inhabitant and structure. The building establishes a dynamic rapport with its surroundings, alternating between expansion and contraction. Through strategic openings and integrations with the facade, it embraces light while blurring the lines between exterior and interior. These interactions serve as catalysts, drawing individuals into a dialogue with the architecture, compelling them to explore its inner workings. Within the space, emphasis is placed on the experience of ‘being.’ Navigating through its galleries evokes a sense of ambiguity, transcending the physical boundaries of the cube. Varying ceiling heights, interplays of natural light, and strategically positioned voids challenge spatial norms, offering a disorienting yet captivating journey. Object Beyond House showcases architectural innovation, pioneering an experimental path that explores the inherent potential and self-organizing nature of architectural forms, charting a new course for future design endeavors.
