the ’66MRN-house’, by design and engineering office ONG&ONG, is composed of two building volumes separated by a central reflecting pond. the formal gesture suggests a splitting action on the typical gable-roof profile of a traditional home, while functionally serving to cool the interiors and create a social gathering area. although both sides of the residence are consistent in tonality, either features unique external materiality, with one in fair-faced concrete and the other in granite.

the front volume contains the house’s social areas including the living and formal dining spaces, while its other half features service functions such as the kitchen. the two sides are linked by stone steps across the ground floor pond and by bridges on the two levels above. on both parts, the roof is covered in an outdoor garden.
