ministry of design (MOD) has completed the interiors of the public areas inside the ‘YTL headquarters’ — a KPF-designed tower for a construction company in kuala lumpur, malaysia. visitors are greeted with a reception-lobby that soars to a total height of 20 meters (65 feet). described as ‘a study in proportion’, the cavernous volume has been designed to capture rays of light throughout the day, while glowing like a lantern in the evening.

inside the lobby, an art installation by studio sawada hovers like a cloud over a series of intimate niches, which provide the space with a sense of human scale. in addition to the ground floor, MOD also completed three stories on levels 8, 9, and 10. serving as the point of interface between the 1,000 YTL staff that use the building and external visitors/consultants, these upper floors accommodate a host of collective meeting zones, including a café and a garden deck.
two of the three upper levels are are vertically integrated through a void and feature spiral staircase. the diverse collection of spaces ranges from casual café style tables, semi-enclosed rooms, acoustically private rooms, and large multi-function conference rooms. ministry of design explains that all of the spaces have been designed with a warm and sophisticated material and color palette. see other projects by MOD on designboom here, including a robotic facility in singapore.
