serene island villas

iranian architect milad eshtiyaghi unveils first images of the proposed ‘tree of life’ villa complex. the project is envisioned as a cluster of six villas which will be realized in homestead, florida as a peaceful retreat for its visitors. with its soft forms and gentle curves, the tree of life will occupy a still body of water to suggest a group of isolated islands interconnected by a network of floating walking paths.

the floating tree of life

with the proposed tree of life, milad eshtiyaghi honors the context of its forested site. recognizing the trees and existing ponds, the architect seeks to preserve all the natural elements of the landscape so that the design adapts to the environment and becomes a part of nature.

the architect comments:in the design, according to the needs and desires of the client, we came to the conclusion that the general design is in the shape of a tree so that the main path is like the trunk of a tree and each villa is shaped like the leaves of a tree.’

milad eshtiyaghi’s design

the milad eshtiyaghi-designed ‘tree of life’ villas are defined by their organic profiles and grassy, angled roofs. from a bird’s eye view, the clustered assemblage shows a clear logic with distinct islands whose lima bean shapes recall those of los angeles swimming pools. from the perspective of the ground, the villas appear as a landscape of luminous and overlapping slopes creating a meandering pathway.

the designer elaborates:when we look at the site from above, it is like a single tree that has the sky in its background (because the existing pond reflects the sky) and it is like another tree that is planted in nature next to other trees and lives next to other trees and lives in it flows inside this tree.
