mf+arquitetos' wooden screens + garden walls establish harmony in collector's residence

mf+arquitetos has completed the design of a residential oasis in são paulo, brazil. the brazilian architecture firm has utilized a signature contemporary feel by focusing its efforts on establishing formal purity and an integration between interior and exterior spaces. the design for the ‘collector’s nook’ uses warm, textured wood throughout — especially in the structure’s screened walls that make up the front façade.

wooden screens allow light to travel throughout and create intricate geometric patterns along the interior surfaces. these surfaces contrast nicely against the kitchen and bathroom walls, which are covered in a dark, white-veined marble. the overall design’s clean and sharp lines are softened by the covered greenery along the back wall. the vibrant natural plant’s hanging leaves lighten the interior, both in terms of their ability to reflect sunlight light and the addition of organic form to the otherwise stark geometries of the space.
