barcelona-based firm mateo arquitectura were charged with creating the landscape surrounding the headquarters of dutch insurance company PGGM. located in zeist, holland, the vast office scheme needed a thriving green space which would contextualize and interact with the architecture. the project had to communicate harmoniously with the dense woodland that surrounded it. by seamlessly blending the existing woods with a new layer of greenery, the core technique of using conservation, reinforcement and intensification enabled the intrinsic qualities of the new landscape to be formed.

the approach was to integrate the parking area an services into one continuous green space which resulted to the design of a large private park. the new communication and work spaces are accommodated on a raised promenade that connects the new and the old buildings. the lightness and visual permeability of the materials highlights the new gardens, strengthening the direct visual relation between interior and exterior.
