french designer matali crasset was charged with the renovation and reorganization of the cité library in geneva. recently completed, the library embodies the themes recurrent in crasset’s past and present work. using design as a guide for users to search for knowledge, the new layout of each floor demonstrates a distinctive theme along with a strategy to promote learning in alternative ways: specially-designed areas for children, integration of technology and diverse seating arrangements.

the first floor illustrates the theme of ‘the imaginary world’ meanwhile, the third floor contains books revolving around ‘the world of music’. along with the use of bright colors to visually aid the layout, cosy and private areas have been dotted around the entire space to strengthen concentration and focus.
