in his latest work, the architect martín marro has taken an old gas oil tank and converted it into a capsule for living in argentina. the project, ‘bunker’, relates to an investigation that marro began in 2012 to reconstruct the memory of his family home, which had previously been a typical service station of 1940. the resulting design uses an existing form to create the ultimate compact dwelling accommodation.

from the outside, the yellow colored tank appears unchanged, however, once inside, the cylindrical form opens up and is home to a sleeping space. given it’s previous incarnation as an oil tan, the ‘bunker’ cabin can be moved to various locations. in 2017, the unit was showcased outside the house that gave origin to marro‘s idea. later in 2018, it was also exhibited in context of #mac2018 contemporary art fair of the city of córdoba-argentina. in essence, the ‘bunker’ project creates a oil tank you can live in.
