Italian practice Luca Curci Architects presents the Floating Glass Museum, a groundbreaking project that leverages the support of Artifical Intelligence to blur the boundaries between art and nature, transforming the open waters into a canvas for expression. Ephemeral looking and buzzing with glazing colors, the sculptural museum structure explores the future of our built environment amid sea level rises and climate change concerns. This project will be presented in several cities heavily affected by extreme fluctuations, like Dubai, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Busan.

a sanctuary where tradition meets cutting-edge innovation

Beyond sea level rises, Luca Curci Architects (see more here) ties his concept to the rich Venetian cultural heritage and the intricate craft of glassmaking. As such, the Floating Glass Museum honors traditional crafts and innovation, revealing a cutting-edge design and a dedication to sustainability, meticulous research of materials and attention to the surroundings. Stepping inside, visitors would be met with a dream-like and kaleidoscope 3,800 sqm sanctuary where the history of glass meets contemporary experimentation. The theatrical displays, hovering glass sculptures, and panoramic views offer space for deep contemplation and reflection.

tackling climate change and sea level rise

The consequences of climate change plague the entire globe; weather patterns are changing and becoming more extreme, greenhouse gas emissions are now at their highest levels in history, and by 2100, scientists estimate that the sea level will rise at least another foot (0.3 meters), but possibly as high as 8 feet (2.4 meters) if we continue carbon emissions at our current rate. In light of those bleak predictions, embracing the sea as our next ground for survival can no longer be overlooked. Luca Cerci developed the Floating Glass Museum with Giulia Tassi Design and an international team of architects and designers.
