yiduan shanghai renovates an old chinese complex into a boutique hotel in yunnan province

the old town of lijiang in yunnan province, china, where tradition and modernity, tranquility and hustles co-exist, produces an elegant and creative gathering place for homestay hotels. among other destinations, li man shen mi ji hotel designed by yiduan shanghai interior design is a special and isolated space.

the hotel’s modern ink painting style brings the most poetic and innovative annotation to the renovated space. yiduan has demolished and re-designed the building and brought new vitality to the waste materials.

as you walk up the steps, the winding path leads you to the reception hall. shadows are similar to ink landscape paintings, time also slows down in such an atmosphere.

the black steel plates are the main theme of the space. they smartly conceal the load-bearing columns of the previous building, and also divided the area. the top of the reception hall is composed of numerous bamboo sticks which are a unique installation artwork. the reception desk is a 7-meter long slab which extends to the VIP tea room, subverting the traditional reception mode by the tension and aesthetics.

each of the ten rooms has its own feature — they are simple and unsophisticated, and are mostly made of raw materials in simple colors which completely match the surroundings. the ink painting concept and natural quality of the hotel make it smooth and quiet.
