immersed in the yucatán coast, mexico, the gemela house by laboratorio de arquitectura is built as a linear structure of concrete columns and ceilings that benefits from a seven-meter front sea view. the holiday residence is arranged in two levels, diving the program between social activities in the ground floor, and private activities on the upper level. in the distance, the house purposefully appears as a lightweight construction, which creates a great atmosphere that brings refuge and favors coexistence under its roof.all images by manolo solís fotografía

laboratorio de arquitectura has built the gemela house with the intention of respecting the ground where it is located, immersing it in the rich nature of the yucatán coast. materials have been used and applied in their natural state, including concrete, chukum ( a limestone-based stucco mixed with resin from chukum trees native to the area), and wood, contributing to the creation of a fresh, lightweight environment in every space of the house.

the holiday residence comprises a linear organization arranged in two levels, separating social activities from the private ones. the ground floor has been designed with the intention of blurring the line between the interior and the exterior, amplifying the space and connecting users with the natural environment. overlapping volumes in the upper level frame the landscape and sea view in the three bedrooms of the house, offering a relaxing and restful stay for the residents.
