belgian firm label architecture recently completed ‘fiat lux’ a renovation of a townhouse in brussels. the transformation of the 270 meters squared residence included using the elements of transparency, reflections and connections between the differents levels.
from the first floor, the stairwell is entirely empty. at each level, glazed windows were installed, creating the dividing walls. some of them are pierced with little round openings, allowing inhabitants to communicate from a level to another one. behind the windowpanes, the platforms, transitions spaces, were covered by OSB stain in black, creating a mirror effect to those who look at them from the opposite openings. in front of these openings, mirrors were installed on the blind attached wall.
