kientruc O completes its sweeping and sculptural IGC tay ninh school to mark a monumental educational complex in vietnam. the project is situated along a large and narrow plot of land which lies in between two major boulevards. the long stretch of land served to inform the organization of a masterplan which comprises an interconnected assemblage of facilities, ranging from preschool to high school. the project is defined by its long, stranded, ribbon-like construction which allows the interiors to flood with natural sunlight.

to acclimatize the IGC tay ninh school to its hot and dry context, the team at kientruc O links the masterplan with shaded outdoor corridors. functional as both circulation spaces and breezy terraces, these corridors provide a pleasant buffer between the interior and exterior and offer shade for activities that take place outside of the classroom. flows of flexible lines define and soften the architecture as a backdrop for activities, while large flowing plates represent the continuous stream of learning that connects each level across the school.
with its skeletal IGC school in tay ninh, kientruc O focuses on the building’s interstitial space. these in-between realms take form through large open areas that open directly to the sky, and doubly act as an aperture framing views of the surroundings. the terraced corridors serve to enhance the intangible relationship between students, the educational complex, and the context. the project stimulates students and teachers to move between buildings, and increase their experience with nature and participate in daily activities. the team at kientruc O notes its goal to facilitate interactions for students of different ages and their educators while creating a relaxing, and comfortable atmosphere for creative learning and teaching through direct contact with nature.
