flanked by a line of cherry blossom trees, JP architects has designed ‘tritan’ in osaka, japan defined by its distinctive cladding. the envelope is composed of a mixture of lithin sand spray and 1mm-thick stone panels that have been blended together to produce the smooth, marble effect in which the façade embodies.

by maximizing the tranquil environment that the house is based on, JP architects positioned the programs so the residents can discover the seasonal expressions of the pond, cherry trees, and the overall par-klike landscape. this was achieved by a planar shape and circulation of the floorplan that encourages views that point out towards various directions.

internally, the first and second floors intersect above each other to form cultivate a diverse number of spaces including a sun and traditional tatami tea room. in addition, the open-air terrace area seamlessly flows out from the upper dining room ‘the unity and completeness of the structure are overridden, so that one feels the space expanding into the entire environment, surpassing both structure and site boundaries.’ comments the designers at JP architects. the house itself is named after the greek god of the sea triton due to the architect’s influence by the image of the half human, half fish, to result in distinctive half stucco spray and stone combination of the project’s envelope.
