set within the precincts of tel aviv’s ancient port, a former 19th century hospital is to be refurbished by john pawson together with local practice ramy gill architects. once completed, W tel aviv – jaffa hotel and residences will form the centerpiece of an extensive preservation and redevelopment project currently underway in jaffa, one of the city’s most exciting and vibrant districts.

referencing the heritage of the port city, the designers sought to create a dialogue between local culture and the hotel chain’s more contemporary approach. historic features, such as the sun-bathed chapel, searing vaulted ceilings, stained-glass windows and hidden inner courtyard are juxtaposed against modern-day comforts and luxury amenities.

38 exclusive properties will be located in a newly constructed, six-storey wing and will feature a private entrance, allowing complete privacy for residents. apartments include a garden studio, two studio apartments and three penthouse apartments, ranging from 90 to 544 square meters.
