JGCH adapts lighthouse fresnel lens into resort concept

cuban-american architect javier galindo, founder of NYC-based JGCH, explores the potential of an existing technology in ‘fresnel resort’. originating from the faceted-triangulation (fresnel) lens of a lighthouse, the concept develops a narrative that results in architectural intervention. small-scale fragmented buildings mimic the lighthouse’s ‘fresnel’, similarly reflecting and emitting light through interiors and into the surroundings.

thirty six suites compose the ‘fresnel resort’ and are aligned symmetrically on either side of a central lighthouse. this allows optimal sun exposure for all units, as well as equitable ocean views for every guest. a restaurant and spa building with lush garden landscaping accompany the ‘resort’. ‘fresnel resort’ was created by JGCH
