the ‘manifesto house’ is a modular and eco-efficient structure designed by james & mau arquitetura, as a concept project for their construction company, infiniski. located in curacaví, chile, the dwelling represents the potentials of bioclimatic integration, recycled and reused materials, non polluting fabrication techniques, and integration of renewable energy. the scheme utilizes adaptable elements to passively mediate environmental conditions. primarily, a system of palette shutters open and close to expose or shade the metal volumes.

the structure is clad in reused palettes which operate to mediate heat gain

the house is comprised of three recycled shipping containers, which form two levels creating a total floor area of 160 sqm. at the ground level, the living room is enclosed by sliding glass doors and hinged screens. when open, the space flows onto outdoor patios creating a large indoor-outdoor environment.

the project utilizes prefabricated and modular components allowing for more efficient construction. this allows for potential future modifications or extensions, evolving with the needs of the client.
