IF landscapes japanese style agri-tourist destination in rural thailand

on an expansive piece of land in juan pheung, a rural town in thailand, ‘coro field’ is a japanese style agro-tourist destination conceived by IF (integrated field co architects). the first of is kind in thailand, visitors can experience and immerse themselves in farming and greenery. focused on cultivating rare strains of crops from around the world and using only mineral water for watering, the facility is distinguished into 5 zones: coro café, market zone, coro house, coro garden and coro me.

the design aspect of the project is the grid system IF used to plan the metal canopy and the corresponding spaces. a dimension of 1.50 meters was established by the architects enabling the site to visualize in a clean, geometric and grid layout- reminiscent to an aesthetic taken from japan. the garden areas allow visitors to see, experience and pick the crops, while each building ranging from the open air farms to the spaces indoors, continue to follow this grid system for consistency in design. walkways connect all the individual areas with the metallic canopy being the consistent element throughout the project.

in coro field, the ‘modern farm’ integrates new technology to improve the cultivation of crops but still maintain traditional farming techniques. depending on the season, the modular canopies can be moved and changed. the cafe follows a minimalist concept featuring multiple areas for visitors to eat, lounge and relax.
