i! arquitectura brings lounging and fitness together inside madrid gym

spanish studio i! arquitectura has shared their latest completed project featuring the renovation of a former bank to the CLUB XII health and fitness center located in madrid.

led by idoia otegui, i! arquitectura decided to design the up-market gym by combining details and elements taken from gastro clubs, social to night clubs to result in a fitness space that allows the users to relax and forget about everyday life. the open-plan space is organized to form a scenery that encourages members to exercise, lift weights or to lounge and drink coffee- all at their own pace. the whole gym is screened by large windows inviting warm and indirect light. meanwhile, a selection of machinery is dispersed on one end alongside plants, while a bar lounge area sits next to the changing rooms marked with a house-shaped entrance.
