vienna-based firm hein-troy architekten has sent us images of ‘house k3’, a multi-level residence for two young families in hörbranz, austria. offering open views to lake constance to the west, the design consists of two different flats that offer equal opportunities of private outdoor space and living qualities.

night perspective

the project, which is essentially an annex, starts from the clients’ parents’ home, a single-family house from the 60s. two units – a maisonette and a loft – were added to the preexisting structure to generate a new, three-family residence. the vertical flat utilizes a split level to create an elevated living space with a kitchen while the horizontal flat is largely organized on a single plane.

each living space establishes a strong relationship to the landscape by offering generous outdoor space on every level. featuring full-height glazing, the interior is lit with an abundant amount of natural daylight.

the whole structure, which was completely pre-fabricated, was set up in just two days.
