beta realities envisions factory campus as accessible village

Bringing clean energy to Jinan, Beta Realities plans Cuizhai Hydrogen Park – a new type of social and green factory campus making the world’s oldest energy source tangible. The industrial hub will embrace circular construction and thinking, with the energy of the source visible and felt across the masterplan and shaping its structure.

Embodying the fluid and energetic flow of hydrogen, its concentric masterplan is marked by a cluster of volumes interwoven with green spaces to form an accessible neighborhood and heterogenous village. The hub forms around a vivid central spine, radiating outwards layer by layer, unfolding a network of enclosed spaces, public zones, and secondary streets.

Cuizhai Hydrogen Park unravels across a concentric system

Cuizhai Hydrogen Park’s masterplan combines feedback loops between different energy lanes into a fully circular campus stemming from a central focal and functional point. Spatial studio Beta Realities divides the ecological factory campus into distinct functional hubs that cater to the production of specific elements, engaged with one another to facilitate workflow and exchange.

Creating a lively urban neighorhood and fostering a holistic experience, a series of green open spaces are interwoven beside the architectural interventions to allow recreational outdoor activities for on-site researcher and workers, visitor facilities, and flexible event plazas.

Cuizhai Hydrogen Park emphasizes sustainable production and intelligent programming, creating open spaces that invite innovation and technological advancements. Beta Realities’ focus on future technology is complemented by the Hydrogen Park’s modular design approach which allows the campus to easily expand to accommodate expansions, maintaining a dynamic visual identity rooted in natural and ecological material choices.

Additionally, integrated safety barriers and green public zoning ensure high visibility and clear delineation across the radial grid, working together to foster a secure and welcoming environment for both workers and visitors.
