on its mission to bring the construction industry up to date, grandio presents ‘hüga technology’, a building system that allows for 99% offsite construction. in october 2020, the argentina-based studio first unveiled its prefabricated concrete dwelling called hüga. now, the team has developed a system using the same technology, which can be deployed for commercial, hospitality and residential functions.

hüga technology was developed in response to unsatisfied demand in housing and public buildings, and an industry that has remained more or less unchanged for centuries. ‘the use of brick in our constructions for over 5000 years is a clear example of how the construction industry is reluctant to change. to modernize or upgrade. not till today has construction had a satisfactory solution, one that renders slow and expensive traditional systems that require skilled labor, which is increasingly scarce, obsolete,’  says grandio.

in the effort to provide a more efficient way to build, grandio worked alongside a multidisciplinary team of 23 professionals, civil, mechanical and industrial engineers, architects, industrial designers and specialist technicians using modern construction methods (MMC) and world class manufacturing (WCM). the resulting hüga units are built in reinforced concrete and designed for minimal maintenance and low energy costs. the compact volumes are developed to withstand all climates and adverse conditions, including earthquakes, wild fire and hurricanes. they are also mobile and modular, meaning inhabitants can extend their home in a single day.

grandio has designed an extensive hüga lineup to meet a variety of functions. hüga business can host commercial activities such as cafés or restaurants while hüga suite can be arranged in a group for tourist sites. there’s also the original hüga home for private dwellings.

as well as its reduction in construction time, another key factor of hüga technology is its availability; any company may have access to the tech. grandio’s goal is to democratize technology with an affordable technological license for professionals or construction companies. with this license, companies will benefit from daily monitoring and technical support from professionals in both construction and sales process. end consumers and companies using the system will also benefit from any new innovations developed by the grandio R&D laboratory at no extra cost.

‘hüga technology aims to revolutionize the construction industry, achieving innovation in the final product, in its commercialization and especially in its manufacturing process,’  says grandio. ‘with the use of modern construction methods (MMC) and the efficiency of world class manufacturing (WCM), all companies in the hüga ecosystem will be able to present disruptive building responses to the current and future demand of our planet. the massive use of this technology will accelerate the urgent changes that our population needs.’

grandio concludes, ‘hüga technology came to change history in the construction industry. hüga came to revolutionize our way of living, undertaking or investing.’
