GS DESIGN completes the Lanxi Tangquan bubble Pool Hotel

Set amid the mountains of Shenzhen, the Lanxi Tangquan Bubble Pool Hotel by GS DESIGN takes on a minimalist and experimental modern architecture that opens up to the landscape and sky. The resort is defined by a central courtyard with a circular pool that breaks up the geometric silhouette of the building — creating a collision between the water’s dark depth and the purity of the white design. ‘The travellers who banish the body and mind, the children who play, all constitute the notes of this leisurely rhythm, and the flowing scale of light silently records all these changes,’ share the project architects.

using ring-shaped patterns to disrupt the sharp architecture

Echoing the ring-shaped pool design is the dining room area of the Lanxi Tangquan Pool Hotel. Half circles and circles seemingly cut through the interior, disrupting the building’s straight corners and lines and further reinforcing the asymmetry set by the water body. This concept of infiltration and organization, according to GS DESIGN (see more here), is enabled by loops and refinements. As a final layer, a play of light and shadow will leave traces of time on the resort, while the integration of plants will gradually penetrate the white, pure space of the architecture to generate a true symbiosis with nature.
