the welsh capital of cardiff’s transport station and central square is set to undergo an expansive regeneration led by british firm foster + partners. situated next to a public plaza, the development will become a highlight for visitors, locals arriving to the city by train or bus. the mixed-use scheme will also consist of new offices and residential units on the upper floors, opening directly on to the new public plaza on central square, creating an exciting new experience for visitors and residents alike.

the practice has already designed two other structures located on the central square. additionally, this masterplan will see the new interchange relocated closer to the cardiff central train station, allowing more accessible and seamless integration with rail and other forms of transport. this new hub for the city is projected to increase passenger traffic and include an airport style lounge, shops, cafes and restaurants, and a basement level car-park- all of which will be housed under one roof.
