Seine Design reveals floating swimming pool and gym in Paris

Seine Design unveils Annette K, a floating swimming pool and wellness gym in Paris, France, dedicated to the well-being of body and mind. Designed to evoke the nostalgia of the long-lost Deligny pool and the dreamy water scenes of the Impressionist era, the project features an Olympic-length swimming pool complete with a sports, health, and wellness center, just in time for the Paris 2024 Olympics. This continuous and generous space supports a variety of activities from morning to evening, complemented by a coffee shop, restaurant, spa, and physiotherapy offices. The centerpiece of Annette K is the suspended pool, appearing like the hull of a life-size ketch sailboat placed on a barge. Constructed from wood, steel, and glass, the structure echoes shipbuilding aesthetics and blends with the green trees and white buildings on the right bank.

The Nordic pool concept by Seine Design, characterized by its natural aesthetics and minimalist style, enhances the feeling of being outdoors, allowing for swimming in the rain or during cold winter nights, with minimal enclosed spaces on the terrace rooftop. The pool’s heating system efficiently warms the spaces in the lower decks. A running track encircles the terrace floor, offering dynamic movement and a 360° view of the surroundings. Annette K’s stainless steel structure serves a dual purpose: it houses the Olympic-sized pool and supports the deck’s infrastructure with spider-like legs that manage electrical and plumbing systems. This design choice by the Paris-based firm frees up space for various activities throughout the day without the need for dropped ceilings or raised floors. Special attention is given to accessibility for all forms of disability, ensuring inclusive experiences across all facilities. Water elements are thoughtfully incorporated into the design, with portholes allowing natural light to penetrate the building and reflections from the Seine creating visual effects reminiscent of Impressionist paintings.
