most of the budget, which wasn’t huge to begin with, was devoted to reviving the kitchen. having previously functioned as a halal meat market, most of the infrastructure was there, but in serious need of repair. thus, the design needed to be economical, and easy enough to build without a large team.

another husband and wife team, fleetwood / fernandez architects, was commissioned to do the interior. their work utilizes readily available industrial materials with accents of expressive details like handmade wood furniture and ceramic tiling. fleetwood / fernandez architects also created a wall using hundreds of melamine bowls, a feature that quickly became ‘yellow fever’s’ main focal point.

metal wire seating, bare bulb pendant lighting, exposed ductwork, and a bright palette come together to make the space feel unique and comfortable. in addition, the restaurant features an original piece by designers koznydan, as well as chairs by bend goods
