Converging design and technology, Dearch Space, Metancy, and W3rlds present the inaugural Metaverse Architecture Biennale, titled Presence of the Future. Set amid the surreal virtual realms of Decentraland and W3rlds, from 21-24 September the event will bring together creators from across the globe to delve into the transformative power of architecture and design in reshaping the future of Web3 and the Metaverse.

Drawing inspiration from the esteemed Venice Biennale and Expo, the Metaverse Architecture Biennale will showcase a display of digital pavilions realized by prolific meta-architects, creating a vast, virtual, expo-like space. Exhibiting participants currently include HWKN, Killa Design, LAVA, PLP, ATRIUM, Soomeen Hahm, Spaces DAO, DA!, Il Prisma, SA lab, iheartblob, Mariana Cabugueira, and Illusorr. Creators of all levels further have the chance to exhibit alongside them by submitting their concepts and visualizations to the Biennale’s open call.

digital pavilions animate decentraland and w3rlds

The first of its kind, the Biennale aims to showcase the boundless innovation unleashed by the Metaverse and will invite visitors to explore its transformative impact on various industries, and the thriving virtual communities that bring it to life. Over the course of the four-day festival, participants will have the opportunity to traverse with pavilions curated by the industry’s top designers, as well as attend talks, lectures, and interactive performances. In addition, they will have the opportunity to discover cutting-edge solutions tailored for businesses operating within the Metaverse.

Notably, the Biennale will pose a unique potential for participants to actively contribute to Web3 technologies, elevate their companies within the Metaverse, and gain global exposure. Anticipated to attract over 50,000 visitors and boasting the participation of 10 pioneering architecture firms, the event will offer an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and co-create the future of architecture and design within the digital realm. ‘This event will not only showcase the remarkable creativity of our global community but also serve as a platform for exploring the limitless possibilities that the Metaverse offers to businesses worldwide,’ notes co-organizer Irina Dubovik.

The Metaverse Architecture Biennale will unfold across two Metaverse powerhouses: Decentraland and W3rlds. Decentraland, celebrated for its expansive virtual world and marketplace, will host the event within a vast, specially curated plaza neighborhood. Meanwhile, W3rlds will expand the event’s reach and offer attendees the opportunity to teleport between these two immersive worlds, exploring virtual pavilions, engaging in interactive exhibits, and forging connections within a vibrant global community of creators.

The organizing team further invites global architects and designers of all experience levels to contribute their designs in an open call. Participants with advanced 3D modeling skills are encouraged to submit their concepts aligned with the theme, Presence of the Future, to exhibit alongside pioneers shaping the virtual realm.
