HDC Design takes over the interior composition of a restaurant

Popular Sri Lankan restaurant brand, ‘Ministry of Crab’ opens a branch dining room right on Jiaozi Avenue designed by HDC Design. Located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in China, BOX·MOC enjoys the view of the Twin Towers standing at a close distance. The layout development of the space divides into two stories arranging the bar area on the ground floor and the restaurant on the first level. The design studio adorns the interior with custom-made furniture as well as dynamic structures and a feathered light installation serving as the centerpiece and lighting up the room in warm dim illumination.

Angel-like wings shape a dynamic feathered light installation

Chengdu-based studio HDC Design focuses the interior composition on the concept of a ‘free and trendy’ place that will stand out on the popular Jiaozi Avenue. Incorporating an angel-like winged structure serves as the focal point for the interior of the bar and restaurant but also supports the entire first story. The specially designed illumination makes the wings come alive and adds to the space’s versatility and dramatic tension. During the daytime, when the dim glow and ambiance are not present, the restaurant on the first story enjoys plenty of natural light and overlooks the Twin Towers as the views through the windows are unblocked. Finally, the construction forms a shell-shaped ceiling decorated with a stand-alone feathered lighting device.
