caixaforum in zaragoza by estudio carme pinós is envisioned as a small city, capable of generating a diverse range of dynamic and connected public spaces. forming a local landmark for the spanish region, the museum and cultural center is raised above the ground, appearing as a sculpture within the vast plaza.

two suspended halls are oriented to face each other, adjoined by escalators that take guests on a tangible journey through the complex. a restaurant and coffee shop are positioned at the uppermost storey, providing expansive views towards the city center, while an external terrace frames zaragoza’s 2008 expo site. below the elevated halls, a semi-underground public garden serves as the exit to the subterranean auditorium, allowing it to form a close relationship with the region, while also doubling as an anteroom or outdoor area for catering.
