located in xativa, spain, estudiHac has given the restaurant and coffee shop TIPICS a fresh identity and interior. the process involved re-designing the graphics and logo, which was further developed inside the restaurant to cultivate an inviting and gastronomical feel throughout.

the restaurant is set back allowing for a sheltered outside dining space

‘we started from a very versatile place because of its multiple uses and schedules, and a logo that refers to the ancient castle of the city, which already identifies the local and will serve us a starting point. why we have reinterpreted the traditional children’s game of wooden building blocks to generate raster graphics and texture that is applied to different parts of the space’ – estudiHac

the letters of the restaurant’s name is carved from wood in a three-dimensional form

the glass front of the eatery is set inside the building façade, allowing for a sheltered, open-air dining space and a small bakery for to-go food before people enter inside. the individual letters of the restaurant’s name is carved from wood and suspended at the front. programmatically, the 300 square meter layout is divided into three distinctive areas: the terrace corner for sweets, bar / lounge, dining area and restaurant. the bakery in the outside corner is defined by the large glass and stone bar which provides a neutral background for the display of pastries. meanwhile the restaurant dining area uses subtle woodwork and painting on the walls to break up and add texture to the otherwise, neutral space.
