emmanuelle moureaux – solo exhibition shikiri prismic gallery, tokyo, japan on now through september 28, 2012
france-born, tokyo-based designer emmanuelle moureaux is presenting ‘shikiri’, the first solo exhibition of her major works. architectural models have been re-made in acrylic, a prevalent material in her designs along with full-scale representations of colorful objects, tables and installations.
in reference to the collection, moureaux has stated: ‘shikiri is a made-up word that literally means to divide space using colors. I use colors as three-dimensional elements, like layers, in order to create spaces, not as a finishing touch applied to surfaces.’
